MP Andrew Leslie hosted a roundtable with residents of his riding

With a new Health Accord to be negotiated by the federal, provincial and territorial governments, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) has been encouraging Members of Parliament (MPs) to meet with their constituents in order to discuss the importance of including seniors care in this agreement.

On Aug. 10, MP Andrew Leslie (riding of Orléans) hosted a roundtable with residents of his riding at Bruyère Village — an assisted living facility for seniors in Ottawa —to discuss the state of seniors care

Mr. Leslie invited a panel of experts to speak at this event, including:

Dr. Merkley and Dr. Joanisse, both CMA members and physicians specializing in geriatric care, presented the CMA’s recommendations for a new Health Accord. These were well received by the crowd of about 70, who, for the most part, were seniors.

Following the presentation, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions and voice their concerns regarding seniors care.
