Seniors and the Health Accord – Town Hall Charlottetown

Seniors and the Health Accord – Town Hall Charlottetown

We know that Canada’s population is aging. With the first of the baby boom generation now reaching 65, there has been increasing discussion among policy makers about seniors’ care and a strategy involving the federal, provincial and territorial governments. Currently 16% of Canadians are over age 65, and that number is expected to grow to almost a quarter of the population by 2036.

The Federal Health Minister Jane Philpott recently announced that she is in discussion with the provincial and territorial governments in the development of a new Health Accord.

The National Association of Federal Retirees and the Canadian Medical Association are coming together and collaborating to host Town Hall meetings across Canada to discuss what a new Canadian Health Accord can mean for seniors’ health care.
